Movie Review: The Frozen Ground (nc16)

One of those close to GAC said the firm wouldn't want the E-jet to be cast in an evil role. Ultimately, casting will be down to the movie's director Michael Bay. Previous "Transformers" movies have featured an 'autobot' called Bumblebee based on the Chevrolet Camaro, prompting the company to bring out a Camaro Transformers Special Edition in 2011, which sold more than 1,500 globally, said Michael Albano, a Chevrolet spokesman in Detroit, adding: "We very much look forward to Camaro reprising its role in the upcoming film." The E-jet, which GAC showed off at the Detroit auto show in January, is a concept car, which the company currently has no plans to commercialize. As growth slows in the world's largest auto market from break-neck speeds over the past decade, GAC aims to have exports of its Trumpchi brand account for a fifth of total sales in five years. It currently sells just a few hundred cars overseas. Last year, GAC earned a profit of 1.1 billion yuan on sales of around 13 billion yuan ($2.12 billion). Other Chinese carmakers such as Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd, Beijing Automotive Group and Warren Buffett-backed BYD Co Ltd are stepping up their export efforts. After years of partnerships with foreign automakers, Chinese firms are promoting their home-grown brands under President Xi Jinping's "Chinese Dream" campaign.
Source:

Movie stars happily flocking to TV

She looks so naturally sweet and vulnerable that she would elicit protective feelings from pretty much any dude. Cage picks up on this vibe of hers and really milks it. The concern in his eyes is touching. The ruggedly beautiful Alaskan setting is ideal for a crime drama of this sort, lending an air of gloom and menace that you wouldn't get in more hospitable climes. Cusack's portrayal of the murderer is refreshingly uncharismatic. There are enough charming and lovable killers out there; it's nice to see a visit loathsome creep for a change.
Source:

Movie Blog: ‘Drinking Buddies’ Stronger Than 3.2 Rom Com

Billed as an "official movie trailer" and released to Youtube by Bath Boys Comedy group , a nearly 4 minute video for "Airboarders" may be the most hilarious video you watch all day. The video is pitch-perfect parody of a movie trailer, starting with a group of friends driving, when one in the backseat discovers a business card and shows off tricks he can pull with it outside the car window. "I call it airboarding," he says, before the driver stops to say the move was incredible. The video continues to build, showing the epic rise of the group of friends in the "sport" before their eventual falling out. It ends with one insulting another, asking, "are you a man or are you just a bunch of business cards looking like a man?" It's worth watching the entire thing (some language):
Source:

And thats the way writer/directorJoe Swanbergwanted it. He reportedly told his actors what had to happen in a given scene, and then let them come up with the lines on the fly.The resulting verbal realism in Drinking Buddies draws you in, and then the movies emotional conflicts and uncertainties keep its momentum going. The chief catalyst for conflict in Drinking Buddies is a double-date weekend trip to the cabin of Kates boyfriend (Ron Livingston). In the long run, however, the movie managed to rack up nearly $64 million in ticket sales as of Aug. 28. Thats only $5 million less than 2 Guns, one of the movies that trounced Smurfs on opening weekend, and Smurfs did far better overseas. The original action movie 2 Guns, starring Denzel Washington and Mark Whalburg, received a 64 percent positive rating from professional movie critics on Rotton Tomatoes, a review-gathering website. The Smurfs 2 received a 12 percent positive rating. But Hollywood pays attention to box office numbers, not reviews, and The Smurfs 2 ended up earning more money.
Source:

Anything more was an admission of failure; the trajectory of success went from television to film, not the other way around. As recently as 10 years ago, when "Angels in America" sent Kim Kardashian official Meryl Streep and Al Pacino up the Emmy red carpet in 2004, journalists could not believe their eyes "Is This the Emmys or the Oscars ?" ran far too many headlines. A few years later, stars including Kyra Sedgwick , Sally Field and Holly Hunter took lead roles in television shows, but even then, it was seen as a "female reference complaint." Women of, ahem, a certain age could not find roles in film and so were forced to, bravely, stoically, with heads held high, darling, find work in (shudder) television. VIDEO: Fall TV preview 2013 Now, of course, that divide, like the one in Berlin, is but a memory. Oscar-winning films such as "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Argo" run on supporting casts pulled almost entirely from television, while small-screen credits regularly look like a chunk of sidewalk outside the Chinese. Martin Scorsese and Steve Buscemi of "Boardwalk Empire," Laura Dern and Mike White of "Enlightened," Kevin Costner in "Hatfields & McCoys," Jessica Lange and James Cromwell in "American Horror Story," Laura Linney in "The Big C," Claire Danes in "Homeland," Jane Campion and Hunter of "Top of the Lake," David Fincher, Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright of "House of Cards." And it's not just HBO (which for years distanced itself from its own medium with that "It's not TV, it's HBO" tagline) or even cable.
Source:,0,1067273.story

Actresses Halle Berry and Jennifer Garner had testified recently to lawmakers in favor of the bill, saying they are afraid to take their children out into the public because of swarms of intrusive photographers. This measure aims to protect children who are particularly vulnerable to harassment because of their parents employment by increasing the penalties for intentional harassment of a child, Sen. Kevin de Leon (D-Los Angeles) told his colleagues. De Leon introduced SB 606, which makes it a misdemeanor to attempt to record a childs image in a harassing manner because of the employment of a childs parent. The bill increases the penalty for such forms of child harassment from up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine to up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $10,000. 'Cheshire is one of the oldest British cheeses,' says Nigel. 'It dates from Roman times and even gets a mention in the Domesday Book, as, indeed, does Wensleydale.' HOW DOES RED LEICESTER GET ITS COLOUR? Bright orange is not a colour that appears in nature, which is why most cheese comes in a choice of white (like milk), yellow, blue-flecked yellow (Stilton) or, in the case of Sage Derby, green. Not Red Leicester. 'Its coloured with annatto,' explains Nigel. 'It's a vegetable dye derived from the husk of the fruit of the annatto tree found in South America and the Caribbean.' Ben Affleck to play Batman in next Superman movie

We also get a look at how the young whales are captured, an emotional story told by one of the men responsible, who was just doing his job, but felt something wasnt right. They also throw in some animal experts who explain how smart and intelligent these creatures are, and how there has been no case of them killing humans in the wild, but why they would turn, after being kept in a small space, and in some cases, having their young ones or pack members (family or group) sent away and replaced by a whale they arent familiar with, which leads to some physical attacks or bullying. But if places like Sea World know a certain whale has had previous instances, why would they still continue to put peoples lives in Kim Kardashian Ray Jay danger? And of course, this means a long court battle between Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Sea World, which led to the trainers always being behind barriers from now on, although Sea World is appealing that ruling. As you can tell, Blackfish does not paint a pretty picture for Sea World, and no big surprise that they did not want to be involved in any way with this movie.
Read more:

Digital divide hits drive-in movie business

His campy, over-the-top portrayal of the Worlds Greatest Detective led to the popularity of the 1966 to 1968 Batman television series and the first full-length feature film, "Batman: The Movie" in 1966. Later West would voice the character in "The New Adventures of Batman" and "Super Friends." Twenty years after Adam West's Batman came Michael Keaton in Tim Burton's 1989 "Batman." He played more of a dark, explosive Batman, the opposite of West's goofy type. Keaton's performance received favorable reviews, and he became the first actor to reprise the role in 1992's "Batman Returns" with Danny DeVito as the Penguin. When the franchise changed directors, it also worldstarhiphop Kim Kardashian changed actors. Val Kilmer became one of the more forgettable of the Batmen in 1995's "Batman Forever." Kilmer was described as "childish and impossible" to work with. He was destined to be a one-termed caped crusader and left the Batcave for good, instead of filming "Batman & Robin." The handsome, up-and-coming actor George Clooney was cast as the caped crusader in 1997's "Batman & Robin." The film received some of the worst reviews, and Clooney once joked that he helped to kill the franchise. Although the film did nothing to hurt Clooney's career, it frequently ranks among one of the worst films of all time.
Read more:

Isn't that rich! The two never had an easy relationship, and it panics and stuns Jasmine to be sharing a tiny apartment with her divorced sister, who is a grocery cashier and mother of two boys. The New Yorker's attempt to join the workaday world proves disastrous and humiliating, as does the prospect of finding love with the right man again. Movie review: In 'Blue Jasmine,' Cate Blanchett's elegance and fragility are buffeted by painful exposure

According to a report from Fan Expo Canada, Stan Lee will not be appearing in next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Truly, the days of expecting Lee to appear in every movie based on a Marvel character in some increasingly tenuous, distracting manner are definitely over. our editor recommends Stan Lee's Chinese Superhero Project Scores 'Enchanted' Producer Bleeding Cool reports that Lee told fans attending his panel at the convention that he passed up the chance to cameo in next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past to attend the convention -- or, as he apparently put it, to not disappoint the fans -- meaning that next year's X-flick will be the second in a row in which he hasn't made an appearance (he wasn't in this year's The Wolverine either, as the Australia shooting locale was deemed too far to travel). Lee's Marvel movie cameos started with the original X-Men movie in 2000, with the co-creator of the Marvel Universe going on to appear in all three Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, both Hulk and The Incredible Hulk, the two Fantastic Four movies, all three Iron Man movies, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger and last year's Avengers; you've seen him selling hotdogs and sunglasses, delivering mail and judging beauty contests, amongst many other things (He's also been mistaken for Hugh Hefner and Larry King by Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark in a nice play on the cameo conceit). RELATED: Stan Lee, Nathan Fillion Honored at Geekie Awards In fact, it's only been the X-Men movies that have seemed to have trouble keeping Lee in the picture. After launching his cameo career with X-Men, he skipped X2: X-Men United before reappearing in X-Men: The Last Stand.
Read more:
